Franklin Cummings Tech's Rebranding and Revisioning
The Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology has an upgraded vision. And it's something that we can all get behind.
Exciting day for the college I teach at. My colleagues and I have been asked by Dr. Aisha Francis, the President and CEO, to share the new rebranding of the college with all of our networks.
Below is the letter to the college community and the public that was sent out earlier today by Dr. Francis. From here on out, the Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology will be known as *Franklin Cummings Tech*—FC Tech, for short. I've been writing a chapter for a series of writings I've been working on about the work many of us put into building strength into this institution and why it matters. I look forward to sharing it later this week.
Good days ahead for our students and larger community, and the Greater Boston region. Perhaps even beyond.
Stay tuned.
Announcement from Dr. Aisha Francis, President & CEO of Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology
January 30, 2023
The following statement was released to the college community on January 30, 2023
I am writing to you to share the exciting news that after careful consideration and research over the past year, including input from representatives of this community, we have developed a new brand for the college and revised our mission, vision, and values statements, which I have the pleasure of sharing with you today.
We are fortunate to be members of the historic Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology community. We derive inspiration from the legacy of and direct connection to one of America’s founding leaders and innovators, Benjamin Franklin, who left funds to Boston to ensure that people could learn a trade, prosper, and contribute to society. Over the last century, the application of Franklin’s gift evolved and adapted. Here we are today, beneficiaries of a 1790 deposit into the future that ensures our graduates are fulfilling their desires to purse technical and trade education that can withstand changes in the marketplace, the economy, and automation.
In recent years, our community has worked to make our impact stronger and our students and faculty more adaptive to today’s opportunities and challenges. We are offering new programs that meet students where they are professionally and personally to teach them ready-to-work skills in high-demand areas such as clean tech; advanced manufacturing; and soon, biotech. Our state-of-the-art campus is rising in Nubian Square and will soon provide a modern teaching and learning environment while serving as a symbol of possibility that is befitting of the students and employees who comprise our thriving community .
As outlined in our Future Forward strategic plan, we’re headed in bold new directions that are unconventional and deeply impactful. With the expertise of the marketing firm, Proverb, we are proud to unveil new branding reflective of our accomplishments, history, and exciting days ahead. While respecting our foundation, we are moving our future forward faster than ever. We are capturing this spirit with a modern and fresh brand that reflects all that we do.
Today, I have the pleasure of reintroducing our college with a common name, Franklin Cummings Tech, that we can all embrace. In addition, we are unveiling a streamlined take on our mission, vision, and values to guide us; as well as a new logo that references our legacy while leading us ahead. All of these components along with aligned messaging comprise our new brand and captures our work to illuminate a new path in post-secondary education that is more broadly available. Here we offer education that calls learners in, not weeds them out, sparks curiosity, ignites confidence, and reveals new possibility for students. Our brand also signifies that we stand for education that empowers students to explore the unexplored and navigate obstacles with our partnership.
Our more concise mission, vision, and values statements strike at the heart of our commitment to provide an educational experience that changes lives and has the power to transform the industries for which we are supplying a bright and talented workforce.
Our mission: We deliver transformative technical and trade education that leads to economic advancement.
Our vision: To achieve economic and social impact through dynamic and entrepreneurial curricula that develop diverse tech talent for our region and to help graduates thrive by building wealth.
Our values: Supporting our diverse community. Fostering a supportive learning environment.
As for today, we will focus on celebrating our new brand. From here forward, we will exclusively use the common name Franklin Cummings Tech; along with our updated logo, mission, vision, and values statements to identify and define our institution and its impact.
Thank you for making new history with us today and for the perseverance and commitment each of you contributes to Franklin Cummings Tech. We are building our success together. We can all take pride in the college entering this new era. Let’s go forward leading with our hearts, innovating with our heads and ever committed to the hands-on learning that has propelled this institution for well over a century.
