I am active in a very different environment than the one you write about, but I experience many of the same difficulties that I see expressed in your writings. I have been involved with the Peace & Social Justice Committee of a local Quaker meeting for over 20 years. While their social activism is one of the major reasons I started attending a Quaker meeting, I find myself gently pushing back on some of the DEI perspectives I find in that community. What you are doing is much more complex.
Yes. The general environment I write about is the often the larger field of education itself, which includes activist communities, the arts, and policymaking networks. So it's complex all on its own. Navigating through it can be a challenge, of course. But I see things smoothing out down the road. Generations away perhaps, but it's hopeful somehow.
